About this piece: This artwork is my reflection on how a mother’s body continues to give life long after birth. Through breastfeeding, her body becomes nourishment, comfort, safety and connection — continuing to sustain the life that once grew within her.
In this piece, I wanted to explore the cycle between mother and child and the ways they need one another. The mother gives from herself so her child can grow, while the child brings a new kind of life, purpose and transformation to her in return. The growing branches and flowers represent this continuous exchange — nurturing, growing and becoming together.
For me, giving life is not a single moment. It begins at birth, but continues through every way we nourish, hold and love our children as they grow.
