About this piece: This painting reflects the quiet, complex weight of motherhood.
I often think about how much a mother carries—not only the physical pain of bringing a child into the world, the long nights, breastfeeding, and postpartum healing—but also the emotional weight that grows with them.
As our children grow, a new kind of ache appears. I feel the tenderness of watching them slowly step into a world that can be both beautiful and frightening. Every mother knows this feeling: wanting to protect them from everything, while also knowing we must gently let them explore and become their own person.
In this piece, I wanted to express that silent strength—the way a mother carries the heaviness of the world so her child doesn’t have to. It is a unique kind of pain, but one that is embraced with love.
Through it all, a mother remains a constant presence: guiding, holding, and reminding her child that no matter how big the world becomes, they are never alone.
